Cooling Tower Services →

Monitoring

It is a requirement of the ACoP L8 that regular TVC and Legionella sampling is undertaken at a UKAS accredited laboratory.

Hygiene Control

To increase efficiency and accuracy, Ara Environmental Ltd design and install automatic monitoring and dosing systems to towers.

Heating and Chilled Systems

Testing and system treatment for both heating systems and chiller systems, maintaining heat transfer and cooling water capabilities.

Installation & Refurbishment

Pack removal and replacement as part of an ongoing maintenance programme. We can also install new towers or completely overhaul existing installations.

Cooling Tower Systems  →

As a company, we want to provide the best cooling tower system services we can to our customers. This means that we are more than happy to answer any inquiries you may have about the wide range of services that we provide, whether it’s handling heat transfer and water treatment or a means of preventing legionnaires’ disease. Our company has long term expertise in water cooling tower design, supply and construction. This means that we are able to provide our customers with exactly what they need.

We want to minimise our customer’s energy costs, water waste, and maintenance requirements while ensuring safe and reliable operation of these critical systems. If you want to drastically reduce your cooling systems operating costs, increase cooling efficiency, and minimise the operational challenges of your cooling towers, contact us today!

Cooling Tower Maintenance

We like to stress the importance of maintaining a clean cooling tower as bacteria can easily build up and lead to Legionella forming. We advise that you should consider disinfecting each area of your cooling tower at least twice a year to prevent this. Cooling tower water requires a specific cleaning process that we specialise in.

Correct dosing of inhibitors and biocides (Control and Dosing) via responsible use of bio-dispersants, together with monitoring, sampling and cooling tower cleaning is key to overcoming these problems, leading to the long-term trouble-free running of a cooling system.

By mitigating corrosion, through the use of inhibitors, our Cooling Tower Cleaning service prolongs the life of the equipment and denies nutrients to bacteria. The inhibitors also help descaling processes, which prevents clogging of the system, cleaning water systems and removes another source of nutrients. Less scale helps maintain a clean system in which the biocides can work more effectively.

By keeping on top of cooling tower maintenance and ensuring proper chemical treatment of cooling tower water, we can help you overcome any issues presented whilst utilising cooling tower systems. Disinfecting cooling tower systems with biocides and aid with regular cleaning helps to combat water fouling, regulate heat transfer and prevent microbiological dangers including, but not limited to, legionella risk.

Cooling Tower – Frequently Asked Questions

We recommend that cooling towers be cleaned and disinfected at least twice a year. However, if a build-up is reported or lots of bacteria are found this may have to be done more often.

During the heat exchange process in water cooling towers, insoluble chemicals and minerals breakdown, leaving a thin coating that creates layers on the cooling towers’ heat exchange surfaces. When this build-up layers on the heat exchange surfaces it insulates it and prevents effective heat transfer.

Maintaining the correct pH levels in your cooling tower is essential for preventing scale and corrosion. It is recommended that you should keep your cooling tower water at a pH between 6.5 and 7.5. However, the exact values will depend on the type of metal the cooling tower is made from.
