Legionella risk assessments, sometimes referred to as legionnaires’ disease risk assessments are a legal requirement for all employers, commercial landlords and business owners. Under section 3(2) of the Health and Safety at Work Act, they are responsible for protecting the public, as well as their staff and anyone who visits the premises from any substances that are hazardous to health, including legionella.
A comprehensive legionella risk assessment should be completed and reviewed every two years to maintain satisfactory compliance with Approved Code of Guidance and Practice ACoP L8 and accompanying HSG 274.
